Otto Weininger, Schwarzspanierstraße 15

At this spot stood the house in which the young philosopher Otto Weininger took his own life in 1903. Weininger’s work, published by Braumüller and brought to great prominence through his suicide, influenced numerous well-known figures of the turn of the century, including Ludwig Wittgenstein, who explicitly names Weininger as one of his influences.

It was, incidentally, the same house in which Ludwig van Beethoven died in 1827, a fact now marked by a memorial plaque.
