In 1906, Wittgenstein completed his schooling in Linz. That same year, Ludwig Boltzmann, Professor of Physics at the University of Vienna, took his own life. There had been some consideration that Wittgenstein might study with Boltzmann. However, independently of Boltzmann’s death, it had already been decided—presumably at his father’s initiative—that Wittgenstein should pursue a technical education. He therefore began studying mechanical engineering at the Technische Hochschule in Berlin Charlottenburg.
