Georg Trakl was among the cultural figures to whom Ludwig Wittgenstein gave part of his inherited fortune. Wittgenstein had planned to visit Trakl in Kraków during the First World War, but the meeting never took place due to Trakl’s death. A commemorative plaque on the Mönchsberg in Salzburg honours the poet.
