


In 1919, Wittgenstein sought to publish his Logisch-Philosophische Abhandlung (Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus) with the Braumüller publishing house. The publisher expressed willingness—on the condition that Wittgenstein cover the costs himself. Unwilling to impose his work upon the world, Wittgenstein declined the offer.
